Our Story

Our journey began in 1897 when Mathias and Marta Storesund returned from America and opened a general store in Storesund, Karmøy. At that time, the store supplied provisions and coal to the local fishing and shipping fleets, becoming the foundation for several generations of the Storesund family.

Over the years, the business evolved with the times. Today, the Storesund family legacy continues through two independent companies, both still operating from the same historic location. One branch, Lorentz Storesund & Sons, remains dedicated to fuel supply for the shipping industry. Our branch has taken a different course, focusing on ship repair services and providing skilled labor to shipyards and the offshore sector.

Today, Storesund Marine Service operates not only from our headquarters in Storesund but also from two additional locations in Halsnøy and Skudenes. While we have grown and expanded, we remain deeply rooted in the traditions, values, and work ethic that have defined us for more than 125 years.
